Lites, Kamaruh, Akchun!

Finally done! I don't know when I will be able to update the site, so in the mean time check out this DakkaDakka thread for all pictures.

Now off to pack! Too much to do, too little time!

Boyz Are Done!

Both the riders pictured and the infantry. All that's left now is the three main characters and some display details. This will be my last post until it's done since it is so close. If I get done early I will update the site before I go with finished pictures.

Billboard Mounted

Went and printed out the billboard and mounted it on foamboard. Just eyeballing it right now. This is not where it will go (piggies go on the walkway), it will be up on legs, the bottom higher than the rocks in the background.

There is also a giant scrap metal skull and crossbones that will be hung in the top right corner.

Actually you can see the little hole the left "leg" will go into left of the board.

Display Progress

Yesterday I did most of the basics of the board. There are still a lot of small details to be painted, and there are a lot of things not attached to be painted (cacti, piggies, the two towers in the back, the ramps and crates over the front gap, the billboard etc etc). Im going today to print out the billboard but I think I am going to start the infantry as well. It will probably be a bit before I update with something good again, as it will be a couple days before I have anything worth looking at on 100 or so Orks.

Display Basecoated

Took a break from painting yesterday to finish up the assembly of the display and get started painting. The house paint diluted with alcohol, water, and mini paints does triple duty as sealer, primer and basecoat for the dirt areas.

Da Intahseptahs

Now onto the red buggies!

Makk Trukk

Front end of the tanker is about done. I am going to wait and do all the tires on all vehicles at once.

Tanker

As usual no tripod and harsh lighting makes it hard to figure out what's going on, but it's just about done except for the riders, and I will do all black weathering when all the vehicles are done.

Now on to the front end! :)

Loaded Up and Trukkin'

I went ahead and did most of the small details on these two Trukks. I was going to wait and do the riders when I do the infantry but I realized all I am really worried about is the skin matching. The other colors are easy enough to match. So I will do the skin and the bone colors (as most of them go over the finished green) later on down the line. I will likely also add dags and other freehand at the end, but I want to wait and see where the infantry go in terms of paint. I also want to wait and decide lens colors later as well.

There will be more riders on each of these, especially the topped Trakk. I decided to do them seperately mid way into adding them to these two vehicles. The Trukk will have a gunner in the cab and a couple more in the bed. The Trakk has a couple up top and a few in the bed as well.

Now onto the next part, I think the Tanker.

Looking back at the pictures, please forgive how terrible they are. Using bad lighting and no tripod. I will of course do final pics when they are done and I update the site.

Painting Started!

Made some good progress yesterday. Other than the Orks riding them these vehicles are about 50-75% done. The Battlewagons on the right are further along than say the tanker. Tanker still needs a lot more work especially the front end.

All Primed Up

Running a little behind; got caught up fiddling with small things and had a busy weekend. Oh well.

The mess of boys in front on plain bases are tank riders being painted seperately.

Next Year's Army

Why didnt they come out with this sooner?? Holy crap.

Da Gyro

There is a rider being painted seperately that goes on that little platform - a grot wearing the same sort of hat.

Updated Billburd

Updated the billboard with some more ideas I had. I think it's done at this point other than some cropping when I go to print it out.

Actually now that I upload it I am not happy with how busy the top center is...I'll probably come back to that.

And I spelled weird wrong. Oh god.

Da Makk Trukk

Sans riders and hanger's-on as usual. This is the reason I had to rework the list to have another wagon instead of a trukk :) It's rather large.

Display Coming Along...

About 75% done in terms of being built. That's over a gallon of spackling... Felt like icing a cake.

The Humongous and Wes

The Humongous isn't leaning as bad as the photo makes out. It's a product of perspective and losing his other leg behind his body. Also in hindsight I am going to swap their boss poles. Doesnt make sense for the #2 to have a larger boss pole.

Not as extensive conversion wise as the others, they just sort of fell together out of perfect bits and I left it at that.

And with these two down, all 50-some Orks are done! All that is left at this point is some more vehicle riders and the Deffcopta gyro. The display is coming along well but I decided to get some more varied plasticard so it is on hold for the time being.
