Happy Halloween!

Hope everyone has a safe Halloween! Can you guess which one is me?  No one wanted to give me any treats.

Fresh Paint Showcase: Wrath of Kings House Teknis

What is it with October and piggy models around here?  I'm not complaining.  These are some of the best models I have painted in a while.  I really like the large open areas of armor and flesh.  The sculpts just have a lot of great character.

Building the Golden Throne Part 3 - Make Way!

In space, no one knows if you clean.

Hey all,

Anyone can tell you an artist normally has a bit of organized chaos around his workspace.  Mine was a Jawa's paradise.  It looked like something out of a horror movie, so let's get on with it. Displays must be built, and space must be made.  Time to pop the garage open and see what I am working with.

Showcase: Showdown - Ambush 2.0

Welcome to Showcase: Showdown, where I take a break from painting and just have some fun taking pictures with some models I have painted!  My love for modelling goes back to childhood, where I got the most enjoyment just setting things up in interesting and dynamic ways.  I try and incorporate this in every step of army building from posing individual models up to how an army looks displayed.  So every once in a while it is fun to just go wild, throw the rules out the window and pose a snapshot of some random battle in the game's universe.

This week, some Thousand Sons meander down a side street, unbeknownst to them a dozen marines and some Imperial armor awaits their arrival.  Normally I would bet on the children of Tzeentch, but in this case things look pretty dire!  How do you see it playing out?

Building the Golden Throne Part 2 - Let's Buy Junk!

This probably shouldn't be quite as exciting a sight as it is.

Hey all,

Well, time for the fun part.  Let's blow some money on a bunch of junk some antique shops are probably excited to see sell.  While actually a bit picky in what I can use - can't be too heavy, fragile, or poorly detailed - most of the stuff I am looking for is likely otherwise quite gaudy and useless.  Statuettes (preferably well detailed), small brass objects and anything plastic that is ornate for the price.  It is one of those things, after a while you can look at an object and the number on the sticker and know if it's a good "value" for the look or not.  But let's get to it!

Showcase: Showdown - Barricade

Welcome to Showcase: Showdown, where I take a break from painting and just have some fun taking pictures with some models I have painted!  My love for modelling goes back to childhood, where I got the most enjoyment just setting things up in interesting and dynamic ways.  I try and incorporate this in every step of army building from posing individual models up to how an army looks displayed.  So every once in a while it is fun to just go wild, throw the rules out the window and pose a snapshot of some random battle in the game's universe.

Some Emperor's Scythes and Lamenters hold out behind a barricade against some Sons of Malice.  The traitors have broken through with their evil contraptions, but they are bottle necked.  Who do you think would will win?

Building the Golden Throne Part 1 - The Concept

The Original - John Blanche

Hey all!  It's that time again - the leaves change, the weather cools, and my impending yearly marathon creeps heavier into my regular thoughts.  I have had a few ideas here and there, and even posted on a few of them, but I have decided the natural conclusion of last year's two projects was to combine them into one most ambitious project and ubiquitous 40k icon - the Golden Throne itself.  It feels natural, as a lot of what I learned from the inside of the egg chair felt like great practice for something like this.

But let's get to the rough idea.

Fresh Paint Showcase: Old School Chaos Marines

Hey all!

Have a new army up, this time a Chaos Marine army based around Sons of Malice.  It's full of really cool old out of print models, and old chassis Rhinos.

This actually isn't a commission, but a paint job for a local friend who did some work for me.  He wasn't too particular, so I went with a bit of a fall look, and decided to go all out with the weathering on the vehicles.  The models are old, and honestly rather plain without it, so the quartering and weathering brings them up to date and they can now rock with the newer models.

A lot of cool stuff coming up.  Some more appropriately Fall themed armies, as well as posts on starting up Adepticon projects.  Stay tuned!
