Flashback Friday - Dusk Raiders Part 1 - Reaver Titan

 Hey everyone!

Welcome to Flashback Friday, where I revisit old armies I have painted from the past.  I have painted thousands of models and who knows how many huge armies on commission, and each one holds a special place in my heart. I enjoy looking back every once in a while at the photos and remembering the joys and struggles, the hard work and the pure enjoyment of making someone's vision a reality. But enough of that emotional stuff, let's get on with it!

Up this week I have for you some Dusk Raiders!  Pre-Heresy, Pre-Primarch even.  I painted this army last summer, so it isn't that old, but I do miss it already!  I really enjoyed working on it and it has so much character, I just had to do an article on it.

Because this army is so large, I am splitting it up into a couple articles.  First, let's cover the biggest model and the centerpiece of the army - the Reaver Titan.

This is my third Reaver Titan and I have to say experience with assembly makes the process much more enjoyable.  The entire kit is magnetized, with 1" magnets in the waist, and 1/2" magnets everywhere else that would take them.  I did use a few smaller disk magnets in some tight places.  The rockets out to the shoulder pads down to the waist is magnetized.

The base is hand made and attached to the Titan using 5" wood screws.  It is very sturdy!  Which it needs to be, this is a hefty model.

The upper carapace I was really proud of.  The phrase on the scrolls chosen by the customer.  He put a ton of thought and background into this army before I even had the models.

Hope you enjoyed my walk down memory lane.  Keep up with my latest work on Facebook if you like!
