Night Lords - The Curze Crew

Hello out there!

Another one down and on the new backdrop as well.  This time, Night Lords! Something that hadn't come across my desk in a while, and one of my favorite Chaos chapters.

The main guidance for this army was the great deep primary blue, but with a little more and intense red.  Which I like as well, on the helmet wings versus metal or flesh.  One detail of lightning, rather than the all over per model.  Then there was some randomizing of fleshes and deeper cloth material reds for the tabards and loose hanging bits.  White flesh for the actual marines though.

In terms of modelling, a very "GW" army with some added things for flavor.  The hard to miss Konrad is a Loot Studios printed model.  Actually just a straight up print, with some paint on top to make him Curze himself.

Lots of added bits and smaller details.  Those on models are parts and conversions done by the client.  The stock Night Lords models are really great, but the added detail really put them over the top and he made some great part and composition choices.  In particular that Land Raider, which was a real treat and character in itself, and the Raptor tabards.  After painting them, hard to imagine them without.

The bases are all Elrik's Hobbies Cursed Cathedral.  The added details are a mixture of parts that come with the bases (books, candles) and a bunch of their accessory packs that happen to thematically line up (torches, bottles, etc).  They recently redid the molds for the Cursed Cathedral line, and all the books and candles that were previously molded into the base are now a sprue of accessories.  Which worked great for me, being able to attach those and build them up, rather than a coincidence if a base works with a pose.

And all on the new backdrop, which worked out great.  I missed the old one and the structure of it always worked so well for taking pictures of armies.  Really open but a lot of verticality in the crates and crane.

Hope you enjoyed and full steam on the next one.  Coming up Thunderbelch Tribe part two.  That was a blue and white Old World (7th edition then!) Ogre army I did a long time ago.  Will be making a new backdrop for those as well, so stayed tune for both.

For now back to work!  See you next time.
