Pirates on BoLS!

I know at this point the Pirates are old news for those of you that follow my stuff, but some pics just got posted on Bell of Lost Souls! Check it out.

Thanks to Bigred over there for the shout out!

Blood Angel Dread Spam

Here is another army idea. All I would have to buy is the dreads if I made the army match my Blood Angels.

Mephiston

Furioso Libby EA HF Magna Grapple

Furioso EA HF Magna Grapple

10 DC Fist infernus
10 DC Fist infernus

DC Dread Blood Talons

DC Dread Blood Talons

DC Dread Blood Talons

DC Dread Blood Talons

Dread TL AC Asscan

Dread TL AC Asscan

The Furiosos:

Fist will count as fist/magna grapple (get over here!) Other arm will be a Forge World claw arm.

DC Dreads:
Each will have a pair of FW claws.

Then the other two will be some random dread, not sure which yet.

There is no scoring units, but unless you face melta spam it's a case of having so many critical targets at once you dont know which to go for. I like that the two weakest units - the AC Asscan dreads - can pop rhinos so the DC dreads can eat whats inside.

But otherwise it is not competitive, just for fun.

Thousand Sons

Here is an army I am working on, in the process of getting it all in the mail:

Thousand Sons

Demon Prince Warptime MoT Wings
Demon Prince Warptime MoT Wings

9x Thousand Sons Sorc w Doom bolt
9x Thousand Sons Sorc w Doom bolt
5x MoT Termies, Lightning Claws, combi meltas Champ

Land Raider DP
Land Raider DP
Land Raider DP

2000 pts.

Tiny, weak army, but at the same time maximizing resilience (for Thousand Sons at least) in the form of 3 land raiders (2 scoring) and 4+ invul save models.

One DP is the Vrock:

The other is Arhiman on a medium base with possessed wings. He is actually fairly large and fits on a medium base very well.

The Thousand Sons are of course Thousand Sons models, but they will use loyalist arms, legs, and backpacks. I just dont like the chaos backpacks and legs on anything but khorne. Too old school and toyish for me personally. On Khorne, definitely, spiky bits all over.

The Terminators are Ushabti:

There are four different sculpts of this model, and I found out in order to get specific with them you have to direct order. If you dont mind random you can get them normally (which for me means a discount.) So I took my chances and lucked out. I got four of the dog (above) models, and one hawk model. Perfect! A champ.

The combi meltas will be represented by sculpted "digital laser" eyepeices.

And of course the Land Raiders will be blue with some yellow striping. A lot like the Iron Warriors, which will be awesome to have side by side in Apoc games.

Not competitive at all, but I think I could win my fair share of games with it and it will be fun to make.

(4/24/2010) Beta Level Cryx

This week's site update features a fairly large Cryx army for Warmachine all at Beta level.

Some highlights:

A lot of fun to paint. Beta level is always a nice break for the detail heavy Alpha. Both are fun in their own way.

See ya!

Finished Krieg

Okay this army is 100% done now. I promise! I added a few units, including a horse mounted command squad, a couple tanks including a centaur, and a bunch of in action shots like this one:
(click it)

One pic of the mounted unit:
Lots more pics on the site, and added fluff. I will say I am not a great writer at all but I am pretty proud of the fluff I have written for this army. It's not anything amazing but there is a lot of it there at this point.

I will still have a site update tomorrow including a Warmachine army. I just had some free time today as I had an early start this week, and I had been meaning to do this for a while.

See you tomorrow!

Angels of Perdition

This is an army request from a client, not one of my own, but I really really like the idea of it, and just had to post it. I like the stealthy look of the armor and the bluish grey next to the dark angels green. This is an example of making the scheme and theme fit your fluff, as it is a dark angels force in terms of list. Here is what he had to say:

I was inspired by the reference to the "pale horse" or "pale rider" from the Book of Revelation in the Bible where "pale" is meant to describe a sickly green, deathlike appearance. Simply put, the vehicles in this army should be painted in this palette. I'm imagining a ghostly, Nurgle-esque scheme where, while not organic themselves, the bikes and vehicles would take on the "pale" appearance of dead, decaying mounts. The one exception to the this scheme are the dreadnoughts. They should more closely resemble the scheme for the Marines, though being piloted by the grievously injured, I can see them having some elements of the Bikes and Speeders carried over. I trust you to make subtle and intuitive choices with them.

The Marines are/were/might be/might have been elements of a Dark Angels force. They could be living, dead, avatars of the Emperor's wrath or something else entirely. I will be using as little Imperial iconography as possible to add to that air of mystery. You're probably familiar with the color palette of the Dark Angels but, if not, they originally wore black armor changing to all green, the Deathwing becoming bone and the Ravenwing retaining the original black. I'd like to combine a bit of all of these without getting too muddled or too crazy with colors. There's a Vallejo color called Black Green. I'd like something close to it to be the primary color of the armor with elements of bone and black. Any exposed flexible piping can similar in color to the vehicles. The inset of the left shoulder pad, where possible, can be Dark Angels Green.

Most of the Marines will be helmeted but the few that are not should have paler skin tones. They're exactly dead but not exactly healthy either. You can mix skin tones freely. I don't discriminate. 8-) I'd like all helmet lenses to be and emit a hellish, orange glow as well. Details that are skeletal should be bone colored. Anything that represents a wing or wings should be black. Hopefully that will contrast with the armor enough. There are a few robed models in the army. Their robes should be a Rotting Flesh/Bleached Bone combo. Weapons are utilitarian tools and should be colored as such. I'm guessing boltgun metal is best. Regardless of armor Mark, the entire army should have a battle-proven/weary/ancient/ghostly appearance.

The bases I'm using are as seen here: http://www.sciborminiatures.com/en_,shop.php?art=636
Referencing back to the Dark Angels and "The Rock", the stone portions should be that dark basalt coloration. The daemons oozing forth (as in Revelation: ..."and hell followed with them.") can be ghostly, hellish, what have you

Can't wait to paint this one! I'm thinking a nice dusty black with some blue in it for the armor, the PP Coal Black for the wings. For the bikes and vehicles, Traitor green but I will likely bring it up to a rotten flesh/bone color.

(4/10/2010) John McClane Eat Your Heart Out!

This army doesn't really have anything in common with Die Hard, other than the guys are just as hardcore...I wish I could remember a Platoon line...

1500 points, Catachan commission, and this week's army.

More pics on the site!

Blood Angels

This army is definitely happening. It's all bought.

1850 is roughly:
4x5 assault marines in rhinos w dozers
20 assault marines
5 honor guard
sanguinor
mephiston
some priests

Drive 18 and pop smoke, delicious! FNP and +1 attack bubbles everywhere. Its still mech and has the rhino smoke wall of doom I love but it plays a lot different from the nurgle.

Rhinos are forge world repressors:

ALL marines are sanguine guard models. However:
Assault marines are sanguine guard that have tac backpacks and bare heads
Assault marines w jumppacks are sanguine guard that have bare heads and jump packs they come with (wings)
honor guard are same as above but use the death masks the kit comes with.

The entire army will be solid gold, a lot like the Grey Knights I did not long ago in style.
The bare heads will be space wolf heads painted dark skinned.
End result:

Time to Get Serious!

Okay, so over the past couple weeks I have met a lot of new people, and a lot of them have blogs, so it's about time I got serious and stuck to the blog. I will update it regularly (no hopefully about it this time!)

So...what's going on with me?

Just got back from Adepticon where I won best painted and players choice with the Nurgle

I met a lot of great people, can't even begin to list them all!

I will be doing an article for Game Forces Magazine. It's a big magazine overseas.

Also, for the same people (they are also the owners of CMoN) I will be doing a tutorial DVD for painting armies.

And on top of that I am totally booked until...I think November now, so things are lookin good! Hard work pays off kids!

Not sold on this layout...too boring for me, but we will see.

See you soon!
