Adepticon Charity Army - Rebel Sanctuary

"You would prefer another target? Then name the system! I grow tired of asking this so it will be the last time: *Where* is the rebel base?" - Rogal Dorn interrogates an Emperors Children prisoner.

This year's Adepticon charity army had some hiccups with logistics.  I received the army in time to get it painted to what I would be happy to photograph, but the donator of the checker cutting board was not able to get it to me until actually at the con.  Luckily, the winner was very kind to allow me to take the army home, give the army itself about a week's more brush time, and build the display board and bases I had originally envisioned.

The display is heavily influenced by Yavin 4, the moon base of the rebel forces in A New Hope.  There was always something additionally endearing about the valiant Rebel army holding up in this ancient ruin, beautiful but in decay, more so than any other location direction-wise would provide.  Throwing Fulgrim and companies' background of the pretty but tragic on top seemed natural, no pun intended.

Fresh Paint Showcase: Old School Chaos Marines

Hey all!

Have a new army up, this time a Chaos Marine army based around Sons of Malice.  It's full of really cool old out of print models, and old chassis Rhinos.

This actually isn't a commission, but a paint job for a local friend who did some work for me.  He wasn't too particular, so I went with a bit of a fall look, and decided to go all out with the weathering on the vehicles.  The models are old, and honestly rather plain without it, so the quartering and weathering brings them up to date and they can now rock with the newer models.

A lot of cool stuff coming up.  Some more appropriately Fall themed armies, as well as posts on starting up Adepticon projects.  Stay tuned!

Flashback Friday - Nurgle Titan

 Hey everyone!

Welcome to Flashback Friday, where I revisit old armies I have painted from the past.  I have painted thousands of models and who knows how many huge armies on commission, and each one holds a special place in my heart. I enjoy looking back every once in a while at the photos and remembering the joys and struggles, the hard work and the pure enjoyment of making someone's vision a reality. But enough of that emotional stuff, let's get on with it!

Flashback Friday - Thousand Sons

Hey everyone!

Welcome to Flashback Friday, where I revisit old armies I have painted from the past.  I have painted thousands of models and who knows how many huge armies on commission, and each one holds a special place in my heart.  A little sweat, a lot of love, and some collaboration with another person and who knows what you can create!  I enjoy looking back every once in a while at the photos and remembering the joys and struggles, the hard work and the pure enjoyment of making someone's vision a reality. But enough of that emotional stuff, let's get on with it! I miss you, baby!

5 Years of Adepticon Part 2 - 2010 - Scallywaggin!

Hello everyone!

I have been going to Adepticon for five years now, with 2013 being the fifth consecutive.  I have made "Chicago" as it is know among those close to me into something of a personal test of will, creativity, and drive.  Every year I try to top or at least match the year before in not only creativity, but size, quality, and charm.  I tend to take 2 months or so from work and just pour myself into the project of the year right before the event.  Last time we went over the army that started the addiction, now let's get into the one that really set the ball rolling and made the most impact on my life, "Scallywaggin!"

(7/21/13) Sons of Horus

Hey everyone,

Here are some Sons of Horus I just finished.  I love painting gold, so I was excited to try the Spartan tracks solid in the color of the Emperor. The green, while I have mixed it before, I have not used on 40k models until now.  It will look quite impressive on a horde of infantry!

Hyperios Defense Turrets

A set of Hyperios defense turrets for a customers existing army and upcoming campaign.  Beyond defense, it's an "army" in itself.

(2/5/13) Adepticon 2013 Charity Army - World Eaters

Hey everyone!

Up now is the charity army for Adepticon this year - World Eaters!  We already doubled last year's total ticket sales the first week it was open, but hopefully now that there are finished images people will really knock it out of the park.

It's for a great cause!

Thanks to Chaos Mail Order and Jeff at Dragon Forge for donating the models and bases!

Nurgle Warhound Photos

Someone asked if I had more images of the Nurgle Warhound, so I thought it easier to post them back up in one post, and add the new image with the infantry attached to the base.

And after adding infantry to the base:

Working on more Imperial Guard with some cool custom vehicles.  I also will be doing the year in review and an updated Adepticon post in the near future as well.

Until next time.
